Announcing TETHER: Conversations About Gravity

Tether is a conversation series on what grounds youAt Aether, we talked communication that happens in the air.

Now, I want to bring it down to the ground.

I’m traveling to Portland, OR next week for an awesome conference called The World Domination Summit. It’s hard to explain (and resist/ignore the cheap jabs at the beyond-audacious title), but there will be 1,000 people who are focused on living life on their own terms, and changing the world at the same time. What better place to ask about the pull that we all feel, the core that we each orbit around?

I have always wished that “if I could just do one thing” but the reality is multi-faceted by nature (it’s always sunny AND cloudy AND raining. The mountains are green AND brown). I’m a (reluctant) writer, designer, marketer and an (extremely reluctant) accountant. Not to mention being a parent, a husband, a brother, a son, etc., etc. Sometimes, it feels as though I’m just ricocheting around randomly. Floating, separated from what’s around me.

Then, sometimes, I feel as though everything is working together in tandem, creating this larger sense of unity, purpose and control.

So, how do you make sense of it all? What ties it all together for you?

That’s what I want to talk and think about with you.

Tether. What grounds you.

The plan is to talk to as many people as I can during the WDS, document it as much as I can here, and take these stories along when I meet up with friends and strangers in Seattle on July 10, for a usual roundtable style dialogue. The Mill, a coworking boutique, run by our friends Keith and Jana Harper, will be our host.

If you are in either place during the week, let’s talk! I can’t wait to learn from you all.

Sign up for the Seattle event here, or tweet to me @akiramorita if you’re in Portland.
